Shotapen LA® : A Long-Acting Antibiotic Duo Pencillin-Streptomycin Injectable Solution
WHAT IS SHOTAPEN® LA?
Shotapen® LA is an injectable, long-acting suspension containing two antibiotics, Benzyl penicillin and Dihyydrostreptomycin. Benzyl penicillin is present in two forms:
Dihydrostreptomycin has a rapid bactericidal effect in the first few hours after injection, and a long-lasting bacteriostatic proliferation for 72 hours.
The above combination gives Shotapen® LA a broad and effective spectrum of action on Gram(+) and Gram(-) bacteria.

PHARMOKINETICS
Shotapen® LA is a ready-to-use injectable preparation that combines the benzylpenicillins procaine and benzathine with dihydrostreptomycin, which gives the product not only a broad spectrum, but also a prolonged period of action.
Procaine and benzathine benzylpenicillins are potent antibiotics from the Beta-lactam family that act by inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall through interference with the transpeptidase enzyme.
Penicillin is a highly active against Gram-positive microorganisms - both aerobic and anaerobic such as Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Corynebacterium diphtheriae, and others.
Dihydrostreptomycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that acts bactericidal to gram-negative and gram-positive microorganisms (Pasteurella spp., Salmonella spp., E.coli., Klebsiella spp., Haemophilus spp., Brucella spp., Shigella spp., Mycobacterium spp.)
