The country's pork production is forecast to reach 1 million MT in 2023 as commercial pork producers plan to raise larger pigs.
The USDA- Foreign Agricultural Services continues to foresee an expansion of the animal husbandry industry in Philippines in 2023, according to a recent USDA GAIN Report in Livestock and Poultry Update 2023.
While its forecast for poultry remains unchanged from the data of USDA Official, it has lowered pork production to 925,000 MT in response to the continued spread of African Swine Fever (ASF) into new provinces within the Central and Western Visayas regions.
Record also shows lowered pork imports after considering significantly lowered trade to-date, following abnormally high carry-over stocks from late 2022.
